CLARINBRIDGE ARTS Festival takes place this weekend and will feature a reading with Australian poet Robyn Rowland and a concert from Sweden’s Choir Klampare.
The festival begins tomorrow with Silver Leaving, featuring a reading by Robyn Rowland and music by harpist Lynn Saoirse.
Ms Rowland has published nine collections of poetry and won numerous awards for her work, and the actor John Nettles (Bergerac, Midsummer Murders ) described her as “among the first rank of poets”. Ms Saoirse’s harp playing was described by Irish Music Magazine as full of “soul and feeling”.
The show takes place in Claire’s Tea Rooms. Admission is €25 including supper at 7pm and €10 for the show only which starts at 10pm.
Ms Rowland will also hold a creative writing class on Saturday at 10am in Suaibhneas. Admission is €10. Places are limited and booking is through Hedy Gibbons on 087 - 2907835, [email protected], or [email protected]
Choir Klampare and The Clarinbridge Choral Group will give a concert in Clarinbridge Church on Thursday October 7 at 8pm. Admission is free but donations can be made.
The Old Schoolhouse Restaurant will also host a series of talks on local history over the coming weeks. Upcoming talks include Mark Green on ‘The Lost Village of Gortard’ on October 5 and Ray Gately on ‘Rahasane and the American Civil War Connection’ on October 12.
