An Taoiseach to launch Galwayman’s book for charity

A new book featuring reflections on life by Galway humanitarian worker Ronan Scully with photography by Andrew Downes will be officially launched this weekend.

Hold That Thought - 52 Thoughtful Reflections For Your Year by Ronan Scully and Andrew Downes will be launched by An Taoiseach Brian Cowen this Saturday at 7pm at The Radisson Blu Hotel.

All royalties from the book will go to GOAL, Alan Kerins Projects, Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind, and Dochas Offaly Cancer Support Group. Light refreshments and entertainments will be provided at the launch.

In Hold That Thought, Ronan explores ideas of forgiveness, hope, grief, compassion, kindness, and relationships, through a series of 52 stories, concluding with a thought or lesson which can be applied to everyday life.

“Many of the pieces in the book come from ideas that came to me during periods of quiet reflection and I would jot them down,” says Ronan. “It has grown from there and I’m delighted to see them combined with Andrew’s photographs in the book which I hope people will find thought-provoking.”

Says Andrew: “I enjoyed the challenge to create images that would complement and enhance the written text. It has been a great experience for me and I hope people enjoy the end result.”

Hold That Thought is priced at €15 and published by Blackwater Press.
