Launch of book on the Galwegian who helped found The Tories

A NEW book on John Wilson Croker, the Galwegian who played a key role in the development of the Conservative Party in Britain, will be launched tomorrow.

John Wilson Croker - Irish Ideas and the Invention of Modern Conservatism is written by NUI, Galway’s Dr Robert Portsmouth, and published by Irish Academic Press.

It will be launched in Kenny’s Bookshop & Art Gallery at 6pm by Dr Thomas Duddy.

The booklaunch will be followed on Saturday by an event called the ‘Historians’ Round Table at 11.30am.

At the event, Lisa Hyde (Irish Academic Press ), Anthony Tierney (Four Courts Press ), Mary Feehan (Mercier Press ), Gerard Moran and Raymond Gillespie (Maynooth University ) will discuss how to develop a manuscript or thesis relating on Irish history into a published book.
