A major search was launched in Clonboo on Tuesday night when a pedestrian was struck by a car on the Curragh Line.
The driver, who struck the man at around 9pm, called emergency services immediately after the accident. The motorist could not find the pedestrian after the incident, and gardaí and the coast guard searched for the man for two hours as fears for his safety escalated.
The man, who was not seriously injured, had apparently continued after being hit, and went to a nearby pub, where he was found two hours later.
