A FEAST of short films will be screened in The Eye Cinema’s Arthouse Screen tomorrow from 7pm as part of Galway Culture Night 2010.
The films are being presented by the Irish Film Board and the Galway Film Fleadh. The screenings will be followed by a short discussion with Fran Keaveney of the IFB and Felim MacDermott of the film fleadh.
The screenings will include Bye Bye Now, an amusing and poignant 15-minute anecdotal history and celebration of the phone box in Ireland; Moore St Masala, a Bollywood style tale of love between shop clerk, Baba, and the sexy estate agent across the street; and the Oscar nominated Granny O’Grimm’s Sleeping Beauty in which Granny O’Grimm terrifies her granddaughter with her retelling of Sleeping Beauty.
Other shorts being screened include Bye, Bye Now, the winner of the Audience Award at Silverdocs in the US; Mr Foley, winner of Best ‘Sound-Scape’ at Dresden International Short Film Festival; and Jericho, which received two nominations at the California Independent Film Festival.
The discussion will take place following the screenings in the Arthouse Screen café and will give an informative insight in to the short film as an art form.
