An organisation which provides a dog rescue and adoption service is appealing to people to support its fundraising walk later this month in Connemara.
The event being organised by the Camus-based dog rescue service MADRA - Mutts Anonymous Dog Rescue and Adoption - will take place on Sunday September 26 from noon through the grounds of the Glenlosh Country Cottages near Maam.
The chairperson of the organisation, Marina Fiddler, says the walk will be a fun day out for all the family.
“We are really looking forward to this event and hope that everyone will enjoy the opportunity to take in the beautiful Maamturk scenery while helping us to raise money to improve the facilities for our dog rescue and adoption service.
“The walk has two route options - the little legs one for those with small children or small dogs and the energetic route for those who will enjoy a longer walk through the beautiful Connemara countryside.”
She says the walk is not just for dog owners. “It is for all of those who wish to support the rescue and adoption of dogs in need of new homes. Those who don’t have a dog of their own can bring a MADRA dog as their companion for the day.”
She explains the service is dedicated to finding new homes for unwanted, neglected, abused or abandoned dogs.
“The walk is being held in order to raise much needed funds to support the ongoing provision of the services offered by this worthy non-profit organisation.”
Each registrant will receive a “MADRA Dogs on the Bog T-shirt” and MADRA dog bandana. To register log onto www.madra.ie or telephone (086 ) 0603646 for more information.
