Salthill Devon’s u-14 squad capped a memorable season with a fine 5-1 victory over Colga in the Galway Cup final.
The win ensured the club completed an historic treble at this level, having already captured the Galway League and FAI Umbro National Cup.
Played in a constant downpour, the standard of football on display was a credit to both sides. Salthill led 2-0 at the break with goals from the impressive Eavan Lowndes and Irish international Ciara Lynagh.
Colga's Lisa Casserley brought it back to 2-1 early in the second half, but Salthill Devon dominated for the remainder of the game with strikes from Shauna Gallagher, Roisin Jacob and Lynagh again, sealing a 5-1 victory.
Apart from the goalscorers, Salthill had impressive displays from their other two Irish internationals, Cadhla Gillen and Katie Carter. Rebecca Rooney, Kerrie Flaherty, Aoife Walsh, Sara Cahill, Shauna Fox, Cara Withero and Emily Naughton also contributed to a fine team display from the All Ireland champions.
Best for Colga were Alannah Moran, Lisa Casserley and Saoirse Burke.
