• Galway Ladies juniors bowed out of Aisling McGing Championship after meeting Cork in the semi-final at Cork Institute of Technology on Sunday. Galway played with the wind in the first half and were rattled by a goal and two points from Cork in the opening 10 minutes. However, after settling, Galway took to their task and by half time the score was Cork 1-3 Galway 0-6. Galway powered into the second half and, after a goal each from Lucy Hannon and Deirdre Brennan, took the lead. However Cork finished the stronger - Cork 2-13 and 2-08.
•At club level, the Ladies Football Championship are now at decision time with the following games on at the weekend: Intermediate Championship final, Gráinne Mhaols v Glenamaddy/Williamstown in Clonbur (Saturday 1pm ); Junior B Championship final, Claregalway v Menlough/Skehana in Monivea (Sat 5.45pm ); Junior C Championship final, Glinsk v An Spidéal (Monivea 4pm ); Senior Championship semi-final replay, St Brendan's v Dunmore (Mountbellew 2pm ).
•Padraig Pearses GAA club were the unlucky runners-up in the Bord Gais Energy St Jude’s All-Ireland Junior Hurling Sevens Cup. They lost to Tipperary club Shannon Rovers on Saturday night by 1-9 to 1-6 after extra time. In a keenly-contested encounter, a goal from Galway Senior star Cyril Donnellan powered Padraig Pearses to a 1-3 to 0-3 interval lead in normal time. Shannon Rovers staged a comeback on the restart and an Alan Hogan point forced extra-time before a Padraic O'Meara goal powered them to victory.
•In an all-Galway decider, Portumna were crowned Kilmacud Crokes All-Ireland Hurling Sevens Senior Cup champions for the third time after overcoming fellow Galway rivals Mullagh in the final. Joe Canning was awarded the player of the tournament with a tally of eight goals and two points in the final. Portumna led by 5-4 to 2-4 at half time before taking the title by an impressive 11-9 to 4-8.
•Claregalway were victorious over Salthill/Knocknacarra by a four point margin to claim the U-10 County League Cup, while Corofin overcame a gallant Tuam/Cortoon to win the Shield Oil Trophy. The league, run by Corofin Ladies Football Club came to a head on Saturday after 15 teams took part in the competitionh eld over the last 10 weeks.
