GALWAY MUSIC fans have much to look forward to in December when some of the most popular and exciting young Irish bands will be taking to the stage of the Black Box Theatre.
The Róisín Dubh will be presenting three concerts at the venue, starting with Two Door Cinema Club, with support from Cast of Cheers on Thursday December 9.
It’s impossible to escape Co Down’s Two Door Cinema Club. Their upbeat, sophisticated, indie-pop anthems like ‘Undercover Martyn’ and ‘Something Good Can Work’ enjoy heavy airplay and are featured on numerous TV ads.
Dublin’s Cast Of Cheers are a powerful live act, who play post-rock styled songs that are loud, fast, and heavy. The intricate, duelling, guitar riffs of Conor and Neill is underpinned by the equally dextrous bass playing of John and the pile driving drumming of Kev.
Villagers play the Black Box on Saturday December 18. The band is centred on Conor J O’Brien, an intelligent and gifted young songwriter. Their debut album Becoming A Jackal went to No 1 in the Irish charts and was nominated for a Mercury Prize.
Then on Sunday December 19, The Coronas, one of the most popular bands in Ireland, will take to the stage in what is sure to be a sell-out show.
Tickets are available from the Róisín Dubh and Zhivago.
