IRISH CLASSICAL guitarist Redmond O’Toole and the celebrated cellist Raphael Wallfisch, will give a concert in St Mary’s Cathedral, Tuam on Friday September 10 at 8pm.
Wallfisch and O’Toole will perform an arrangement of Schubert’s ‘Arpegione Sonata’, originally written for the arpegione, a peculiar 19th century instrument which was a hybrid between a cello and a guitar.
They will also perform Manuel Maria Ponce’s ‘Sonata Romantica’, which is dedicated “To Franz Schubert, who loved the guitar”. The duo will also present their new arrangement of Beethoven’s ‘Andante Con Variazioni’, originally written for mandolin and piano.
A Spanish touch will be added by the inclusion of Manuel De Falla’s ‘Siete Canciones Espagnola’ and Martin Y Coll’s ‘La Folias Espagnola’.
