Four councillors had to declare donations to city council

Four councillors had to declare donations to the Galway City Council last year under the Local Election (Disclosure of Donations and Expenditure ) Act 1999.

Donations greater than €634.87c between January 1 and December 31 2009 must be declared and the figures are contained in the city council’s Donation Statements From Members Of The Galway City Council document.

The former PD, now independent, councillors, Donal Lyons, Terry O’Flaherty, and Declan McDonnell, each received €1,600 from the Galway West Constituency Progressive Democrats. Cllr Lyons also received a donation of €2,000 from Galway City District Ltd.

Labour councillor Derek Nolan received a donation of €1,000 from Labour Youth in Dublin.

All stood in the 2009 local elections and were successful in winning seats.
