A 19-year-old Knocknacarra student has walked away with a prestigious dance honour.
Emma Horgan, a NUI Galway commerce student who qualified as a dance instructor with the Performing Arts School Galway (PASG ) is the first person in Galway to have been awarded the prestigious Associate in Theatre Craft diploma from the International Dance Teachers’ Association.
The only girl in a family of five, she started her career with Paula McGurrell in the Performing Arts School Galway. She has performed leading dance roles in shows including The Frog Prince, Annie, Oklahoma and Snow White. For the past two years she has combined her university studies with preparing to take professional examinations as a dance teacher.
Delighted with her achievement she is looking forward to teaching part-time with the PASG while completing her third year studies at NUI Galway
“I am thrilled to have been awarded my professional dancing teacher’s qualification and I am now looking forward to teaching with the Performing Arts School Galway as well as finishing my commerce degree.”
Established in 1991, the school has trained some of Galway’s best known names in the entertainment industry, including West End star Aoife Mulholland and RTE broadcaster Aine Lally.
