Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh, possibly Ireland’s greatest sports commentator, will be the subject of a special interview on Raidió na Gaeltachta, to be broadcast next month.
Mr Ó Muircheartaigh recently celebrated his 80th birthday and, to celebrate both the man and his contribution to broadcasting and sports commentary, RnaG will broadcast Mícheál – Tráchaire ár Linne live from the Galway Bay Hotel in Salthill on Friday September 10 at 7pm.
The programme will feature Mícheál, together with family, friends, and colleagues, GAA players, those involved with Special Olympics, greyhound racing, the Gaelscoileanna movement, and RTÉ, who will share their thoughts and memories of the gifted commentator.
The public will have the opportunity to be present at the broadcast of the programme, and invitations will be distributed through the RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta programmes over the coming weeks.
