Galway lunchtime theatre makes a welcome returns to its natural home of The King’s Head, High Street. this month, after a few years’ hiatus with Brendan Murray, ex-director of Punchbag and Ros na Rún, taking the creative reins.
Murray was one of the stalwarts of the venue’s glory days and is currently a writer/director with the multi award winning Fíbín Puppet and Performance Company. He also directs The Complete Oirish Play, an hilarious 40 minute lambasting of Ireland’s literary genius.
Starting at 1.10pm daily (except Sunday ) from today, Thursday August 12th, when a discounted lunch menu will also be available, this promises to be a richly rewarding return to the brilliantly realised productions of old. It affords an opportunity to catch the latest stage talent from Galway.
Cast members are Síomha Ní Mhuirí, Eanna O’Dowd and Kevin McNamara. In the last year Síomha has played to 10,000 people with Fíbín as the lead in An Triail. Eanna is a GYT member and has recently appeared in Tarry Flynn at the Town Hall Theatre and in Citizenship, with Kevin, in the Galway Arts Festival.
In keeping with the tradition of this famous venue that spawned the likes of Tommy Tiernan, Philip Sweeney, Fiona Kelly and many more of the cream of Galway talent, the emphasis is on slick, fast paced comedy that will thoroughly entertain.
