Lisbon Lions legends John Fallon and Charlie Gallagher will be in Galway next week to attend a fundraising day organised by Celtic FC supporters to raise money to help severely disadvantaged children in the Philippines.
The event is organised by County Galway Celtic supporters’ club Buachailli Corafinne and sponsored by the Western Hotel, Monroe's Tavern, and Standard Printers. All proceeds will go to PREDA Galway, an international charity which strives to free children from adult prisons and prostitution in the Philippines. The charity was founded by 2009 Meteor Humanitarian of the Year, Fr Shay Cullen.
Lisbon Lions Day, taking place on Saturday August 7, will begin at 2pm in Monroe’s Tavern, Celtic HQ in Galway, with a Lions lunch where Hoops fans can chat and greet these legends of the game.
The Western Hotel will host a tribute night to the Lions from 8pm, showing clips from their European Cup win on May 25 1967 in Lisbon followed by a Q&A session with “the bhoys”. Finger food will be included in the ticket price and the always energetic and the powerful Celtic Storm will take to the stage for a night of celebration to kickstart the new season while honouring those who made Celtic FC what it is today.
Tickets for A Night with the Lions in The Western Hotel (www.the western.ie ) followed by Celtic Storm are €15 with all profits going to help the children being rescued by PREDA. Tickets can be purchased from reception at The Western on (091 ) 562834.

Buachailli Corafinne has supported a number of charities in the past in the true Celtic spirit, helping to raise funds for the paediatric unit in University College Hospital Galway, PREDA, and the Jimmy Johnstone Motor Neurone Fund. The supporters’ club is led by Mike Nolan with Barry O'Loughlin as treasurer.
