Kiltormer native Maureen Finnerty collected a prestigious award as she graduated recently with 262 fellow Garda recruits from Templemore Garda College.
Garda Finnerty celebrated her graduation by being one of only a select few to receive special recognition for her achievements when she was awarded the Gary Sheehan Memorial Medal commemorating a recruit garda who was killed on duty in Ballinamore, Co Leitrim, in December, 1983.
This prize is awarded to the best all-round student and Garda Finnerty was delighted to receive the honour from Garda Commissioner Fachtna Murphy.
