Padraig O Conaire’s birthplace to reopen

The premises most fondly remembered as ‘Padraigs’and most famously the birthplace of esteemed writer Padraig O Conaire is to reopen this week.

The premises which was most recently reincarnated as Sheridans On The Docks, is to reopen this week as a bar and eatery under the name Mc Ginn’s on The Quays.

After the much publicised closing of the bar and restaurant it will reopen under new management. David Mc Ginn, brother of Fergus Mc Ginn from Monroe’s, Dominick Street, is to operate the popular bar and restaurant. David, originally from Tuam, is moving from the Boat Inn in Oughterard to take charge of the premises. Like his brother Fergus, David spent many years in Spiddal in the 90s where he ran An Droighnean Donn.

Mc Ginn will bring much of what made the Droighnean a success to the Docks, friendly service, wholesome locally produced food, and a good pint. Regular visitors to the bar will also be happy to hear that he will continue with the regular music sessions to which patrons have become accustomed.

Mc Ginn is very fortunate to have an experienced team working with him, bar manager Conan Doyle and chef Maura Davoran will ensure that food, drink, and service is of the highest quality.
