Lifeboat called to tow boat and family to safety

Galway RNLI Lifeboat rescued a family whose small boat broke down on Galway Bay earlier this week.

The half decker angling boat experienced engine failure while out on the bay at around 4.40pm on Tuesday.

A local fisherman raised the alarm and took the boat in tow until Galway Lifeboat personnel arrived shortly before 5pm. The Lifeboat towed the boat to Ballyloughane Beach in Renmore. The family of four on board the boat — a father, mother, and two young children — did not require medical attention.

The crew on the callout were helmsman Seamus Carter, John Burn, and Keith Faller.
