Macra hosting a fun free night at the dogs

Two of Galway’s most active Macra clubs, Galway City Macra and Annach Cuain Macra in partnership with the Galway Greyhound stadium have come together to devise a fantastic free night’s entertainment at Galway Greyhound Stadium.

Everyone who is attending the innovative Macra Know Your Neighbour event will receive complimentary admission and it is hoped that the night will be a fun-filled night of excitement for all.

A memorable night is assured and the organisers are urging all interested spectators from both Galway county and city to go along and sample the atmosphere.

The Know Your Neighbour Weekend, from July 23 to 25 2010 is now in its fifth year. The weekend is a nationwide initiative aimed at encouraging people to interact more with their neighbours by asking them to organise or attend a Know Your Neighbour event in their community.

All around the country neighbours along with their local Macra clubs have organised picnics, barbecues, parties, fun days, and a variety of other social get-togethers.

Annach Cuain Macra continues to go from strength to strength while Galway City Macra was set up a year and a half ago and has established itself as one of the leading clubs in the region having represented the county in basketball, soccer, and public speaking. Both clubs take part in a wide range of events during the year from sport to social, to fundraising, and much more.

Macra na Feirme is a well established voluntary organisation for young people between the ages of 17 and 35. The organisation consists of a nationwide network of clubs with six key areas of activity: agriculture, sports, travel, public speaking, community involvement, and performing arts. Macra is committed to the personal development of members and puts emphasis on social interaction and participation. It is a fun way to get out and meet people to get involved in a variety of events as well as helping the local community.
