The west’s only donkey sanctuary is seeking walkers to take part in a fundraising mountain challenge later this month.
The Achill two peaks challenge will take place on the weekend of September 20 and 21 and will raise funds for the Sai Sanctuary for Donkeys. The sanctuary is seeking 20 people to take part in the walk, which will entail climbing the two highest peaks on Achill Island, Co Mayo; Croghaun, at 688 metres, and Slievemore, 672 metres, offer spectacular views.
A further 20 people are being sought to take part in a one-day Anyone Can Abseil adventure challenge, which takes place in the mountains of Sligo on Sunday September 28. Anyone can do this abseil as no technical experience is required.
Anyone over the age of 18 and a reasonable level of fitness can take part in these challenges; some hill walking experience would be an advantage. For more information or a sponsorship pack, call (087 ) 6655 490. Places are strictly limited and are being allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
