Off to the races with Emily-Jean designs

The race is already on at Emily-Jean Designs, which is busy creating custom made hats and headpieces in advance of the Galway Races. Although it is only a few weeks away, there is still time to create a bespoke design to stand out on race day. To help women find the right look Emily-Jean Designs has introduced a highly popular spring/summer 2010 collection of ready-to-wear occasionwear hats.

This season sees 12 new designs, which offer a complete mix of styles and colours, drawing inspiration from the haute couture fashion shows in London and Paris, as well as some of the emerging high street trends. A number of the pieces this year have used quite colourful and fun materials, which are designed to be dramatic but playful, while others are more structured and elegant, with natural tones and simple flourishes.

A distinctive feature of all the designs is the quality of materials used. Swarovski crystals are sourced from Austria, while the fabrics and plumes are imported from New York and Paris. Emily Jean's background as a jeweller and milliner allows her to merge the two skills to embellish headpieces with brooches or coloured gemstones, which have all been incorporated into the new collection.
