Ipsos/MRBI did not undertake FF poll

Top market research firm Ipsos MRBI has confirmed that it did not carry out the internal poll on the Galway West constituency which has been circulated in Galway in the last two weeks.

The poll which was allegedly commissioned by Fianna Fail was reported extensively last week, but Ipsos MRBI has said it did not play any part in its commission.

A statement from the company added that not alone was Ipsos MRBI not commissioned by Fianna Fail to carry out this poll, but that they do not carry out any opinion polls on behalf of any political parties.

Fianna Fail has also denied that any such poll was carried out on their behalf.

The multi-page document breaking down the findings of the poll which has been circulated informally among FF members and the media in the region over the past two weeks shows that Eamon O Cuiv and Michael D Higgins will battle for the first seat and that Fine Gael and Noel Grealish will take the other two, leaving a battle royal for the final seat between FF candidates Michael J Crowe and Frank Fahey and a Fine Gael candidate
