The Galway City Museum is hosting a range of family fun activities for the summer, starting with a Japanese origami workshop tomorrow from 11am to 1pm.
The family events are being organised by the museum and www.mykidstime.ie Other events include two activity workshops for children on Friday July 16, one workshop on traditional Claddagh houses for five to eight-year-olds while the other, aimed at those aged eight to 12, is on Pádraic Ó Conaire.
On Saturday August 28, a second family fun day will take place as part of Heritage Week. Wool crafting expert Mairead Sharry, from Inis Óirr, will let children try traditional wool skills such as spinning and weaving.
In between, there is a Children’s Detective Sheet available at the reception, created by two local children, which allows the children to discover exhibits for themselves and to interact with the history on show, in a fun way.
The origami workshop costs €5 per family, but places need to be booked in advance by calling 091 - 532460. For more information see www.mykidstime.ie or email [email protected]
