Galway Cathedral Recitals

THE GALWAY Cathedral Recitals 2010 Summer Concerts programme starts next week and will feature Susan Landale, Malcolm Proud, and the Chamber Philharmonia Cologne.

The recitals will be held on Thursdays at 8pm for six weeks, starting on July 8 with a performance by Prof Susan Landale, the Scottish-born Paris based performer and teacher. She will perform music by Bach, Mendelssohn, and Liszt.

On July 15 soprano Roisín O’Grady, accompanied by Malcolm Proud, will sing songs by Dowland, Bach, and Purcell. On July 22 Galway’s Raymond O'Donnell will perform works by Franck, Mendelssohn, and Leighton.

Hamburg’s Uwe Bestert will play Kuhnau’s ‘The Battle Between David and Goliath’ as well as works by Schlick on July 29. Trumpeter Michael Harrison and organist Emma Gibbins will play on August 5.

The season concludes with a performance on August 12 from the Chamber Philharmonia Cologne. They will perform Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, and works by Bach, Paganini, and Tchaikovsky.

Admission is €12/8. A Friend ticket, which gives admission to all six concerts, is €60. After the show audiences will be able to meet the performers over a glass of wine. See also www.galwaycathedral.ie
