David Holmes - leading DJ @ Kelly’s

THE MAN behind the Ocean’s 11 soundtrack and possibly the finest DJ and film composer that has ever come out of Ireland, will be DJing in Kelly’s.

Belfast born DJ and producer David Holmes has produced five albums and 13 film soundtracks - among them, his magnificent 1997 album Let’s Get Killed, which established him as a creative and imaginative DJ of note. He is also the composer of soundtracks to Out of Sight, Ocean’s 11, Ocean’s 12, and Ocean’s 13.

Continuing his interest in film, in 2006, with Lisa Barros D’Sa and Glenn Leyburn, David founded film production company Canderblinks Film and Music. Its first short film, The 18th Electricity Plan, played at various international film festivals winning a Special Mention in the Best New Director category at the Cork International Film Festival.

In 2009 he worked with Leo Abrahams to create the score for the multi international award-winning film Hunger and saw it win Best Score in the Irish Film and Television Awards 2009.

David’s next score will be for Knockout, the next feature film directed by his long term collaborator Steven Soderbergh, and starring Michael Fassbender, Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas, and Antonio Banderas.

His latest album is The Dogs Are Parading, a best of complete with three new songs. It also includes a mix of ‘Living Room’ by My Bloody Valentine’s Kevin Shields.

David Holmes will DJ at Kelly’s tomorrow at 10pm. Support is from Johnny Moy. Admission is €15. Another leading DJ Andrew Weatherall, producer of Primal Scream’s classic Screamadelica will play Kelly’s on Friday July 2.
