City Hall calls on public to use water sparingly

Due to the recent sustained dry period and lack of rainfall the Galway City Council is calling on all water users to conserve drinking water supplies.

Water levels at the reservoirs are quite low because of increased demand on supplies. If this continues, the council’s Water Services Section has warned that water pressure may be reduced in different locations across the city.

As a result the public is being asked not to waste water and in particular not to use hosepipes to water lawns or wash cars.

“With the dry weather conditions expected to continue through the coming weekend, Galway City Council is requesting that all water users reduce water usage to the absolute minimum,” said a council spokesperson.

Further advice on how best to conserve water is available on the council’s website www.galwaycity.ie
