Fuaim Chonamara - sean-nós dance show at Monroe’s

SEAN NÓS dancing - the original, oldest, and best form of Irish traditional dance - will be given an exuberant display throughout the summer at Monroe’s, as Fuaim Chonamara takes to the stage.

Fuaim Chonamara, the sean-nós dance show which has enjoyed acclaim across Ireland, and more recently in Scotland, will begin in Monroe’s tonight at 8pm.

The show features the Cunningham family dancers from Connemara, led by Brian Cunningham, alongside his siblings Irene, Ashling, Michael, and Lorraine. The show also features Riverdance stars Siobhain Manson and Doireann Carney with guest appearances by singers Dessie O’Halloran and Caitriona Ní Cheannabhain.

Sean nós is a highly improvisational, low to the ground, rhythmic dancing style in which the performer is free to interpret the music. As well as sean nós, the show will feature brush dancing, solo dance, barrel dancing, old music forms of lilting in the bag, the Jew’s harp, and lively Irish trad.

Tickets are available from Monroe’s on 091 - 583397 and Zhivago Records.
