Claddagh home sells for more than expected

Colleran auctioneers continued its success in the Claddagh last week with the sale by auction of No 11 Grattan Terrace. Described as something very special by Don Colleran, it was not surprising that there was such huge interest in this property from the start.

Situated facing the Promenade on an elevated site, this property commands breathtaking views of Galway from every window in the house. The auction opened at €250,000 and, with just two people initially bidding, was slow to reach its reserve. However once the property reached its reserve three new bidders entered the fray and the price quickly climbed, concluding in some very intense bidding, with 67 bids in all, before Don Colleran finally dropped his gavel for an incredible €64,000 in excess of the guide price.

After the auction the vendors expressed their delight with the sale and Don Colleran said that this result underlined the fact that there is still a very strong demand for the right property, in the right location, at the right price.
