Hession clocks fastest time

Galway’s Paul Hession has grabbed the top ranking in Europe this summer over 200m after his victory at the European Team Championships (First League ) in Budapest.

In clocking a time of 20.46 seconds, Hession became the fastest man in Europe this season over the distance.

The Athenry AC athlete finished ahead of Britain’s Leon Baptiste (20.53 ) and France’s Christophe Lamaitre (20.56 ).

His victory helped Ireland retain its First League status in Europe.

Next up for Hession is a return to the Irish track where he will compete in the Woodie’s DIY National Senior Track and Field on July 9/10 in the Morton Stadium.
