Three key battles on Sunday

Joe Bergin (Galway ) v Tony Taylor (Sligo )If Michael Meehan does not start, then the experienced Joe Bergin will wear the captain’s armband. A powerful display by Bergin would go a long way towards inspiring Galway to victory. He was man of the match against Tyrone in the league and another display like that would be just what is needed this weekend.

Gareth Bradshaw (Galway ) v Eamonn O’Hara (Sligo )

It is a big positive for Galway and Joe Kernan that Bradshaw is back from injury. He is a very talented player and has all the key elements to be the ideal man to track and nullify the former All-Star and Sligo’s talisman.

Alan Burke (Galway ) v David Kelly (Sligo )

Burke is expected to be given the role of man-marking Sligo’s most dangerous forward. Burke has considerable pace and he will need it all to tie down the livewire Kelly. If Burke could stop Kelly, it would be a big blow to Kevin Walsh’s hopes of springing a famous Sligo win.
