World Refugee Day will be celebrated in Galway tomorrow with a series of events taking place in the Galway City Museum from 2pm to 4.30pm
World Refugee Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly to recognise the contribution of refugees throughout the world. Each year the celebration takes a different theme, this year the theme is ‘Home’.
There will be a display of works from people currently in the asylum process including crafts, poetry, and a web design. Women from Lisbrook House have donated two handmade blankets for a silent auction with the proceeds to be donated to the Galway Simon Community.
There will be music at Spanish Arch from Tolu King, The Gombeen clowns will entertain, and there will be refreshments provided by the City Museum coffee shop.
The event is organised by the Galway Refugee Support Group (091 - 779083 ). All are welcome to attend.
