GAA golfers tee off for charity

Galway charities have benefited from the golfing prowess of former GAA stars.

Michael Brennan, TJ Gilmore, Brian O’Donnell and Kevin Clancy joined forces to compete in the recent GAA Legends All Ireland Charity Golf Inter-County Championships held in Spain to raise money for charity.

The team’s chosen charities were Ability West – Éirim An Iarthair, Brothers of Charity Services Galway, and Rehab Care Galway Services - all of which provide services and supports for people with intellectual disabilities in Galway city and county.

The event, held over three days in La Cala Resort in Spain, boasted teams from 32 counties . The GAA Legends All Ireland Charity Golf Inter-County Championships is in its third year.

Plans are already in place for the 2011 tournament and the Galway team and their three nominated charities have commenced preparations for a local golf event, which they hope to hold early in 2011.
