AS IT is World Cup time we all hope that Messi, Torres, Kaka, and Podolski might net a few hat tricks on the way, but it seems Galway’s Ken Bruen has beaten them to it.
The internationally acclaimed crime writer has been nominated for a hat trick of awards for his book Tower, which he wrote with Reed Farrel Coleman.
Ken has been nominated for an Anthony Boucher Memorial World Mystery Convention Award in the Best Paperback Original category. The award recognises achievement in mystery and crime fiction and is named in honour of writer, reviewer, and editor Anthony Boucher.
The full list of nominees will be released soon and the award winners will be announced in San Francisco in October.
Tower has also been nominated for the Anthony & Spinetingler Awards and the Foreword Magazine Book of the Year Award in the Mystery category.
Ken has also scored a second ‘hat trick’ of awards this week as his early novel The Guards has received its third nomination since it has been published with a nomination for the Barry Awards 2010, where it is up against novels by Michael Connelly and Stieg Larsson.
