The Matchmaker returns to Town Hall

THE MATCHMAKER is second only to Glenroe in terms of being synonymous with the actors Mick Lally and Mary McEvoy, and the duo return to the stage in John B Keane’s hilarious play.

After success in finding a local farmer a wife, Kerry local Dicky Mick Dicky O’Connor finds himself in demand as a matchmaker. Dicky assists numerous hopefuls in finding their heart’s desire of a perfect match.

The desperate and dateless include a lonely cripple from Cork; a five foot, seven stone former jockey; a wealthy older gentlemen with a taste for men and women many years his junior; and an increasingly furious woman twice married and twice widowed.

The Matchmaker will be staged at the Town Hall Theatre from Thursday June 24 to Saturday 26 at 8pm. It is directed by Michael Scott and adapted by Phyllis Ryan while Lally and McEvoy perform than 20 characters between them.

Tickets are available from the Town Hall on 091 - 569777 and www.tht.ie
