Public consultation session on Headford Road Community Centre

Headford Road residents have a chance to make their views known about the proposed community centre for their area at a public meeting this evening.

The Galway City Council will host a public consultation session this evening between 7pm and 9pm in the Menlo Park Hotel.

“The City Council has taken an active role in reshaping and leading this project,” said Labour councillor Derek Nolan, who is urged residents to attend the session. “New plans will be on display and residents and community groups will be able to have their input.”

Cllr Nolan says that, with substantial funding sources now in place, it is possible that construction can begin by mid-2011. However the long-term success of this project will depend on community participation.

There have been many false dawns and long waits for this community centre,” he said, “but I am confident we are getting there. I hope as many people as possible can make it tonight, to have their say, voice their opinions and show their support.”
