A large architectural exhibition which will feature some 100 architectural drawings and prints by over 90 students is currently on display at Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology.
The exhibition which will run until June 17th at the Dublin Road campus and will demonstrate projects from students in each of the three years of the B.Sc in Architectural Technology programme. There will be architectural works created by quality software such as AutoDesk, AutoCAD and Revit Architecture, including hand-made detailed construction models, hand renders, sketches and reports. Projects include domestic applications, timber framed, steel multi-storey and concrete mixed-use multi-storey buildings.
Tom White, Head of Dept of Building and Civil Engineering, GMIT, says: “During their studies, students learn the necessary skills to design the construction and fabric of a building to an international architectural standard, and assess its performance in accordance with Irish building regulations in an environmentally sustainable way, with due regard for energy efficiency and conservation measures.”
He continues, “The exhibition is a fantastic insight into the architectural language of drawing and visual communication. GMIT is very grateful to Amicus Technology, the local AutoDesk contributors, for their sponsorship of a number of student prizes.”
The GMIT Architectural Technology Exhibition is on display in Union Square, near the old reception, GMIT Dublin Road campus.
