The new Cosworth Impreza will go head to head with Mitsubishi’s Lancer Evolution X FQ-400.
The engineering collaboration between Subaru and Cosworth has managed to develop the 2.5-litre turbocharged Boxer engine to just top the FQ-400 from 0-62mph in 3.7 seconds, as opposed to 3.8 seconds in the Evo. This is despite having slightly less horsepower than the FQ-400 with 398bhp on offer.
There will be just 75 models built for the British market. No specific details have been given for the Irish market, so I would advise contacting Subaru Ireland soon if anyone is interested. In Britain it will be priced just below the FQ-400, which is now £52,299.
Details revealed by Subaru state the car features Cosworth badging on the lower grille, front seats, brake callipers, and floor mats. Individually numbered plaques are fitted on the engine and door sills. Each Cosworth Impreza STI CS400 is supplied with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
The all-wheel drive CS400 features Cosworth-engineered components in the engine, turbo system, exhaust, suspension, brakes and wheels, plus subtle improvements to the exterior.
Interior specification includes Recaro front seats, Cosworth-branded black leather rear seats and steering wheel, piano black centre stack and trim accents, and privacy glass.
Customers will be able to choose from three colours – spark silver, dark grey and san remo red.
