If flooding from the River Clare is to be avoided then the report on the river from Ryan Hanley Consulting Engineers and the OPW must be published immediately.
This is the view of Independent TD Noel Grealish who said publication of the report is “crucially important” as work needs to commence “as soon as possible”.
Ryan Hanley Consulting Engineers and the OPW had agreed to publish their report in the first week in June and Dep Grealish has now requested a meeting with them to discuss the report and its findings.
“The water is now at its lowest level since the floods of last winter, which will make it much easier to commence drainage works and flood mitigation measures,” he said. “We must ensure that nothing delays this essential work, as we don’t want a repeat of the floods of last November.”
