The 22nd Galway Film Fleadh will open on July 6 in the Town Hall Theatre with a screening of the new Irish film My Brothers.
The film is directed by Paul Fraser and was written by Will Collins, who won the Galway Film Fleadh Pitching Award in 2007 for his original pitch of My Brothers.
“The Fleadh is thrilled that a script which started as a concept for the Pitching Award has come to fruition and will now open the 22nd Galway Film Fleadh,” said a spokesperson for the festival.
Set over Halloween weekend of 1987, My Brothers is the story of three young brothers’ epic quest to replace their dying father’s watch. Using a battered bread van, the brothers embark on a journey across the wild Irish landscape on the Halloween weekend, grinding gears and screaming at each other to get to an arcade machine in the small Irish seaside town of Ballybunnion.
The 22nd Galway Film Fleadh will also feature world premieres, special tributes, Irish and international features, documentaries, and shorts. The programme will be launched towards the end of this month.
