One hundred and forty teams line up to do battle in Salthill Park this weekend in the 34th edition of the Salthill Devon organised Carlsberg Fives.
This year Salthill Devon is offering the opportunity for teams beaten in their first game to enter a second chance plate competition, which will run in parallel with the main event and stage its final before the main game on Sunday evening. Otherwise it is knockout all the way, with all the usual thrills and spills.
Last year’s winners, Innocent Boys, cannot defend their crown and they will be playing in the FAI Cup this weekend for Salthill Devon against Tullamore Town. This leaves the stage clear for Martin Crowe and Tony Golden, runners-up twice previously. Barry Moran’s Bobbles 5 winners in 2007 will have other thoughts, while Eoin Duffy’s NRG will be trying to deliver a second success for Salthill Devon
As always there will be the u-13 and u-11 events running alongside the main tournament on Sunday, also in Salthill Park.
