The Saw Doctors to showcase new album at extra Kelly’s gigs

The Saw Doctors, who are just back in Ireland after sell-out shows in New York at Irving Plaza, and Boston at the House of Blues, have announced two more Galway concerts on Tuesday June 22 and Wednesday June 23, upstairs at Kelly's, to add to the previously announced Galway shows at the Bridge Street venue on June 1 and 2.

There are only 200 tickets available for each of these four intimate shows by The Saw Doctors, Upstairs at Kelly's, Galway, on June 1, 2, 22, and 23. Tickets cost €15 plus charges, and are available from Zhivago Records in Shop Street, Galway and from Ticketmaster outlets.

The Saw Doctors will preview all 11 new songs from the band’s upcoming studio album, including the first single, ‘Takin' the Train’, at the four Galway concerts on June 1, 2, 22, and 23. The new Saw Doctor’s album was recorded over the last 12 months in Rockfield Studios in Wales, and Grouse Lodge Studios in County Westmeath, and was produced by veteran UK producer Philip Tennant. Shamtown Records will release the new Saw Doctor’s studio album in Ireland and the UK in late August. Manager Ollie Jennings says the band are promising a “new twist” to their latest album, the lineup has also been altered up with new drummer Eimhin Cradock joining the Galwegian group.

The June 2 concert by The Saw Doctors is a benefit for the Galway based internet magazine, 48 Hours, and all proceeds from the concert will go towards producing a physical edition of 48 Hours which was written and designed at the end of March by many of Galway's creative writers, photographers, graphic designers, and illustrators.

The Saw Doctors will play the 40th Anniversary Glastonbury Festival on Sunday June 27, headlining the Avalon Stage, and over the summer The Saw Doctors will play festivals in Norway and Switzerland, as well as playing the Oxegen Festival at Punchestown Racecourse on Sunday July 11.

Last month The Saw Doctors successfully toured Australia, headlining the Port Fairy Folk Festival in Victoria and playing sold out shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth. Reviewing the Port Fairy Folk Festival, The Age newspaper in Melbourne said "The most popular act of the Port Fairy Festival was hard-driving Irish band, The Saw Doctors, with their infectious songs about love, soccer, and small town life."

The Saw Doctors have recently achieved platinum status in Ireland for their compilation CD, to win just once. .The Best of The Saw Doctors, which Universal Music Ireland released last October and which has now sold more than 25,000 copies.
