Last call for bring bank nominations in Galway

The final deadline has been set for nominations for this year’s Repak sponsored Best Presented Bring Bank Award as part of the National Tidy Towns Competition.

Tomorrow, May 21, is the last day for the people of Galway to nominate the local bring bank they think is worthy of the €1,000 prize fund and national accolade. In all there are seven regional winners and one overall winner. Previously Oughterard in Co Galway won a regional award.

Nomination requires a completed entry form with details on the location and a photo of the bring bank. Entry forms are available on www.tidytowns.ie and completed entry forms should be sent to Laura Byrne, Repak Ltd, Red Cow Interchange Estate, 1 Ballymount Road, Clondalkin, Dublin 22. Alternatively you can email Laura directly at [email protected]. Judges will visit each of the nominated bring banks during June and July to score them.

Speaking about the award, Laura Byrne, Repak said: “Bring banks make a huge contribution to recycling in Ireland, with over half of all household used packaging collected through bring banks nationally. Tidy bring banks that are free from litter, are easy to find and use, help to encourage more recycling and make it a more enjoyable experience. If you believe your local bring bank is a contender then let us know where it is and get deserved recognition for your local community and potentially win cash for your local tidy towns committee”.
