Rockfield Park and Laurel Park are listed in the Galway City Council’s Road Works Programme 2010 for traffic calming measures.
Labour councillor Billy Cameron has welcomed the news that the works are to be carried out during the forthcoming months. Cllr Cameron met with the residents associations of both estates in 2008 to further traffic calming measures for the area. Meetings were held with the council’s transport and infrastructure department and maps and plans for implementation were drawn up.
“Unfortunately due to cuts in funding in the roads programme 2009 work has been delayed,” said Cllr Cameron. “However I am delighted these measures are now to be implemented in the interest of safety of all residents.”
