Duo plead guilty to attempted post office raid

Two men have both pleaded guilty to the charge of conspiring to commit a robbery at a post office in Connemara last November.

Michael Huston (44 ) with an address at Luí Na Gréine, Western Distributor Road, and Quintas Smith (30 ) of no fixed abode, appeared before Galway Circuit Court on Tuesday for arraignment.

The two South African men pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit robbery, in that on or about November 11, 2009, they conspired together to rob Indreabhan Post Office.

Counsel for both accused men said that their clients had no previous convictions and asked that time be given for the preparation of a probation report.

Judge Raymond Groarke directed that probation reports be prepared and adjourned the matter to July 16.
