New intercultural recreational facility for Galway opens Saturday

His and Hers Cooperative Society Limited a new intercultural recreational facility for Galway, will be officially launched on Saturday at 2pm.

His and Hers is designed to provide space for recreational activities, celebration, and cross-cultural integration. The launch party will feature music, dance, and poetry from various ethnic groups. Community leaders and local politicians will also attend.

His and Hers is a brain child of a Nigerian woman, Bola Olajide, who has been living in Galway for many years. She has training in intercultural mediation, drama and music.

Another important partner whose contribution was pivotal to the establishment of the project is Marian, whose expertise lies in social studies. She got her inspiration for the project during her visit to the USA where she was similar project already undertaken by the Irish Americans.

The motivation for His and Hers came from the growing needs within Galway’s ethnic minority groups to secure a space where both host and immigrant communities can integrate and celebrate union, re-union, christening, marriages, and birthdays, and where ethnic youths can learn more about their cultural heritage.

The event is open to all. For more information contact Marian (087 - 6990545 ) and Jumoke (087 - 9550612
