After decades of waiting Galway city can finally boast a fully dedicated school of music. Launched on Monday last ‘Maoin Cheoil na Gaillimhe, Galway Music Resource’, has now officially opened its doors to the people of Galway.
Housed in St. Mary’s College the new music school offers a full range of facilities comparable to those found anywhere in the country. Rooms come fully equipped with new pianos, audio equipment and a huge array of online resources made available for the students of the school.
Music programmes start for children as young as one year old with the launching of the internationally acclaimed ColourStrings Programme.
Older students, taking instrumental classes, can choose from the widest range of instruments and genres available in Galway. All registered students benefit from inclusive classes in aural training, theory, and chamber music, making it a very comprehensive music education option.
