Galway City Sinn Féin will hold a vigil on Shop Street on Wednesday at 6pm in memory of hunger striker Bobby Sands.
Author, playwright, and 1981 hunger striker, Laurence McKeown, will deliver a talk and present the documentary Blanketmen- The Story of the blanket by those who were on the protest, in Monroes Bar at 7.30pm. All are welcome to attend.
Sinn Fein in Ballinasloe will be holding a commemoration and vigil in St Michael’s Square, on Wednesday from 5pm to 8pm to mark the hunger strikes.
Eoghan MacCormaic will be speaking at the commemoration. Eoghan was a close friend of Bobby Sands and was in Long Kesh during the blanket protest and the hunger strike.
