After many years of campaigning by local residents, Friday April 23 will see the official opening of the new school of St John the Apostle, Knocknacarra National School.
Minister Éamon Ó Cuív will perform the official opening and Bishop Martin Drennan will perform the blessing of the school.
Children, teachers, and parents will lead a simple prayer service, which will be followed by a tree-planting ceremony outside the school.
The public are invited to tour the school any time from 4pm to 6pm on the day.
