Vive l’été

Make the most of the long evenings and bright mornings by attending an intensive French course this summer at the French Institute.

Under its director, Brigitte Demay-O’Carroll, it boasts an excellent reputation bringing the French language and culture to its students in Galway.

Courses at different levels are available at times to suit everyone. For adults, beginners to advanced, the French Institute offers the most up-to-date language courses where natural conversation is emphasised. Whether you wish to enhance your professional profile or prepare for your holidays in France this summer, why not avail of this unique opportunity. The upcoming courses will take place over five weeks with two weekly sessions, commencing on May 24.

Intensive courses are also available for secondary school students in June and August. Students going into exam years in September and who wish to get a head start can avail of classes combining revision and some basics in exam preparation. Students going into second year can expect to revise and improve their French through interactive exercises.

Fourth and fifth year students who wish to get a real life experience of the French culture have the possibility of choosing between two programmes in France, where they can either attend a private school or participate in an exchange with a French family. Whatever choice of programme, the students will greatly improve their French and create lasting friendships. Places are still available on the two-week French immersion programme from July 17 to July 31.

Primary school teachers at the French Institute have devised fun-packed classes for primary schoolchildren, providing a lively introduction to the language through natural learning with songs, games, arts, crafts, and cooking. The classes are divided into two groups: the Bambins club (ages four to eight ) and an introduction course for older children who are preparing for secondary school (ages nine to 13 ).

All groups benefit from small classes and individual attention.
