Nuala Ní Chonchúir to launch debut novel

IT IS 1980 and summer in Dublin. It should be a time of fun for a spiky 10-year old girl, but instead of playing outside she has to play mother to her Ma and her brothers.

This is You (New Island ), the debut novel by Ballinasloe writer Nuala Ní Chonchúir, which will be launched this Saturday at 5pm in The Dáil Bar, Cross Street, Galway, as part of the Cúirt International Festival of Literature.

The novel has been praised by Welsh author Rachel Trezise who said it was “a wonderful piece of work. Economic, evocative, sharp and nail-bitingly tense. The little girl’s voice is pitch-perfect.”

All are welcome to the launch.
